After a mechanical issue with their flight and a delayed transit in Amsterdam, the French team behind 33entrepreneurs Startup Contest finally made it to Copenhagen. 33entrepreneurs is a French Startup Accelerator touring around Europe in search of candidates for their program in Bordeaux. While the snow was pouring down, entrepreneurs, the audience, judges and the team behind 33entrepreneurs fought their way to Dare2mansion’s location at Vermundsgade in Copenhagen. Prior to the event a flight delay had caused the event to be moved from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon.

The jury consisted of Natalia Nilsson, co-founder of Tech-Tiles, Chris Shern, managing partner at ADVANT Partners and Vincent Petre, expert within wine start-ups at 33entrepreneurs.
Five startups competed on their pitches
Five startups within the sectors of food, wine and tourism participated in the contest Saturday.
The first pitch came from the startup Fooducer, that connects the whole food industry at one platform. Cofounders Fie Hansen-Hoeck, who has 25 years of experience from the food industry, and Sanne Fehmerling Kristiansen, who has 12 years of experience as manufacturer, delivered a strong message about facilitating the communication between manufacturer, buyer and vendors.
Afterwards followed Cook With a Local who, in line with the airBnB concept, connects tourists interested in cooking with locals who invite them into their homes and after them the Francis app that collects all the best experiences within French culture in different cities.

Penultimately was cofounder Rasmus Elkjær Frandsen representing Startuptravels, and last on stage brother and sister, Lasse and Mia Grosen, cofounders of the platform for hostels and backpackers, Comundu.
And the winner is..
While the jury deliberated, the audience voted for their favorite. After a very close race, the French app, Francis, won the Public Choice Award and a magnum size red wine.
Then the time came for the jury to pick the winner of a week coaching in the wine region Bordeaux, 500 euro to cover travel expenses and three years access to Microsoft’s BizSpark. After a long deliberation the jury finally came with the result. And the winner was: Comundu.

“We didn’t expect to win this at all – it’s our first real public presentation ever! But the timing is perfect as we’re about to launch at the European market, and of course we’re looking very much forward to go to Bordeaux.” Mia, cofounder of Comundu says
Beside the already mentioned prizes, introductions to relevant people will be facilitated together with mentorship, meeting likeminded startups, potential investors and press coverage. The team behind Comundu is now also one step closer to be selected for 33entrepreneurs’ three months long accelerator program later this year.
