When you surf the internet, different companies gather your data in the form of so-called cookies, which are used to, for example, tailor advertising. Now, the Danish ISP Waoo has developed a new plugin that allows you to donate your data to charity.
On the internet, your data is used daily by companies, who are interested to find out how you behave on the internet, what you are interested in, and what you are not interested in. Usually, this data is used to tailor ads on your browser, or help companies understand their users more fully.
Your data is very valuable to many companies, and the market for user data is constantly growing.
The Danish ISP Waoo has developed a plugin which allows you to take control of your data, and determine exactly who is able to make money off of it.
Users of the new plugin allows their data to be shared with Waoo, and if it is sold to a third party, the money is donated to an organization that you have chosen to support. Waoo cooperates with numerous charities, including the World Health Organization, the World Wildlife Fund, and Doctors Without Borders.
