From protein bars made of insects to exercise bikes that combine exercise with gaming and VR, to products that contribute to global biodiversity, to AI-powered products that find sustainable restaurants. These are just a few of the 30 Nordic startups that are going to participate in a #Nordicmade tour at the LAUNCH Festival in San Francisco.
The delegation consists of a mix of startups in edtech, fintech, medtech, gaming, B2B, and cleantech. The #Nordicmade tour, organized by STARTNordic, is part of an initiative that promotes the Nordic startup scene by connecting it to other startup ecosystems around the globe.
The LAUNCH festival is one of the world’s largest startup conferences, with over 15,000 attendees and 250 speakers.
As part of the tour, a Nordic Mixer event will be held together with the Nordic Innovation House, which will gather the Nordic entrepreneurs as well as local media, entrepreneurs, and community builders in San Francisco.
Connecting entrepreneurs with Silicon Valley
“We’re really honoured to have been chosen as part of this initiative,” says Jan-Arild Svello, co-founder of Activetainment and one of the entrepreneurs joining the tour. “It will be very useful for us to meet with other like-minded startups and entrepreneurs and share ideas and experiences.”
“The initiative has enabled us to reach a whole new audience in one of the world’s biggest startup conferences.”
Philip Bock, co-founder at Sponsta, who is also joining the tour, is also excited about the possibility to connect with the Silicon Valley startup community.
“As a Nordic startup we have an idea about Silicon Valley, and that this is on a whole different level. I just want to go and see that and connect with that.”
“I am setting up meetings with potential partners, but I am more excited to meet fellow entrepreneurs, people in my stage and a bit later, that I can learn from,” he says.
