Start your engines: Startup Weekend Helsinki VII is coming

This coming weekend, 15-17th April, the 7th Startup Weekend Helsinki comes to town. To “Launch a Startup in 54 hours” is the opportunity. Kicking-off on Friday evening, designers, developers, and innovators will pitch ideas to the crowd, form teams and build amazing startups over the course of the weekend. Results will be presented late on Sunday to an expectant crowd, including investors.

Participants will be well supported with guidance from experienced local mentors and coaches, complemented by a series of talks that will offer insight and inspiration. It will be an immersive learning experience to get to know the key steps involved in creating a startup.

Turn a killer idea into a business

It could be an ideal way to turn that killer idea you’ve had in your mind for a while, into action. Or it’s the opportunity to work with someone else’s idea and make the killer implementation! At the very least, it promises to be a great learning experience and another networking opportunity with like-minds. Go with an open mind and a lot of energy!

Startup Weekend is a tried and tested format – a huge global community who have participated in nearly 3,000 previous events across 150+ countries. Created to “provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs” the 23,000 teams previously established during events are testament to this – less talk, more action.  You can find more information about the Startup Programs here.

The previous Helsinki event six months ago was part of a Global Startup Battle, which covered 200+ events running simultaneously worldwide within one week during November 2015, with overall winners being widely recognized.

“Build an amazing startup over the course of one weekend” – that’s the promise.

This Helsinki event is being hosted at the NewCo Helsinki offices supported by  local organizers and community leaders. Partners include by Nordic Law, Helsinki Growth Alliance, Startup Grind, TweetwallArctic Startup, and local Finnish co-working spaces including: MOW, Cohesion, Hub13.

Last month, a pre-event evening bootcamp was held to introduce the main principles of the event. The agenda included quick fire topics such as Business Model Canvas, Lean Methodologies, Pitching 101, and Startup Weekend Success Stories.
