SXSW Startup Accelerator deadline is November 6

In the eight years since its inception, the SXSW Startup Accelerator competition has helped to propel many startups.

The accelerator is essentially a global showcase for startups, and provides a platform for entrepreneurs to present the latest ideas in sectors as diverse as fintech, wearables, and entertainment.

Of the 305 companies who participated in SXSW Accelerator between 2009 and 2015, over 63% received funding, with combined funding in excess of almost $2.613 billion (does not include undisclosed grants, angel and seed funding). Of these 305 companies, 13% have been acquired by the likes of Google, British Telecom, Huffington Post, Apple, Live Nation, OpenTable, Constant Contact, and Harmon.

Forty-eight finalists will be paired with expert industry mentors who will provide coaching prior to the event on March 12-13, 2016. There are multiple categories for participation, each judged and emceed by some of the most experienced entrepreneurs, investors and technology journalists in the nation.

Some past judges/emcees include Guy Kawasaki, Tim Draper, John Sculley, Bob Metcalfe, and Christine Herron, to name a few. Read more about past alum here.

The competition takes place at the SXSW Interactive Festival in Austin, TX from March 12-13.

Apply before the application deadline on November 6th here.
