Sproom aquired by Visma, but will maintain independence

The Danish electronic invoicing startup Sproom has been acquired by Visma. The acquisition is part of Visma’s strategy to become the Nordic leader in e-invoicing.

Sproom is a digital trading platform that automates and optimizes difficult and tedious billing work – the work that bigger companies have full-time employees to perform and that small business often lack the resources to do. Sproom moves these routine tasks into a digital environment.  And they have been doing it well, as Visma has been keeping an eye on them, and the two sides have recently completed a purchase agreement.

Thomas Permin Berger, CEO and co-founder of Sproom, see the acquisition as an opportunity to grow and develop the company further.

“Together with Visma we can really accelerate the development and deployment of e-invoicing, so solutions will be even more accessible and economical,  and also provide enhanced quality for thousands of Danish companies,” said Thomas Permin Berger.

The plan is for Sproom to continue as an independent entity under Visma, rather than be absorbed by it.

Visma is one of Scandinavia’s largest companies with over 7,500 employees working in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Romania, Latvia, and Lithuania. They are the Nordic leader within the finance, retail IT, outsourcing of payroll and finance, debt collection, and developing and advising on major IT solutions. And now also e-invoicing.

“We see great potential for Danish companies with increased digitization, including e-invoicing. With the acquisition of Sproom, Visma will offer stronger solutions in this field – both closely integrated into their own Visma products, such as the accounting software e-conomic, and for Danish companies that do not use a Visma-finance system, “says Mads Rebsdorf , director of Visma Software in Denmark.
