SXSW Nordic Startups – Share your interests in ongoing stories

These days the Nordicstartupbits team is placed in the middle of the tech hurricane at the SxSW conference in Austin Texas. Today we got to talk with a lot of Nordic startups, so the next few days, we will be posting articles about the startups and general news from the SxSW conference & festival.

The first startup we want to put in the spotlight is Selfish.me which was founded back in 2013 by Röstem Hairedin and Moody Fayed. The service works as a collaborative, visual storytelling service with a mobile-first strategy and a robust web/desktop component. With Selfish you can capture personal projects and adventures in ongoing stories with flexible control over how you create, with whom and who sees what you share.

Important moments of your life – captured in photos, videos, and your written thoughts about people, places and things you love – are slipping away or getting buried in timelines. We’re changing that.

The Selfish app ties together both your captured moments and the people you love to share them with. When friends collaborate, memories grow, and your story lives on.

Selfish is available as iOS in Russian and Canadian app stores, where they are testing the product and within the end of 2015 in US as well. The web application is available globally.

Selfish is being built as a global system robust enough to deploy their product in multiple markets and communities around the world. Their website infrastructure includes a complete content management system with search and algorithms for content discovery and display. The site has a community management system with an administration panel, support ticketing system and an auto responder email notification system. They are managing the localization process with their own content management system and translation server.

Growing into global
The company has grown fast in a few years, and the team has already expanded to 20 people located all around the world. We talked with Marat Kinyabulatov, who is the Project Manager at selfish.me about what their agenda where while attending the SxSW.

“We are here to have a look at the social trends and how other startups are doing storytelling.”
