The Danish winners of Nordic Startup Awards

The Danish final took place at TechBBQ in the Opera House in Copenhagen this Wednesday.

The award winners in the Danish Nordic Startup Awards final were:

Startup Journalist of the Year: Neil Murray, The Nordic Web
The prize for Startup Journalist of the Year went to a communicator who has great influence and is very important for the startup ecosystem. Neil Murray got the prize because he has been able to gather the Nordic and tell all the stories that are found in the entrepreneurial environment. He was also nominated in all the Scandinavian countries, which proves that he is working to bring together the Nordic region.

Developer Hero: Jacob Tjørnholm, Gomore
Developer Hero goes to a person, who has developed a strong tool or product that has helped to create added value for the entrepreneurial environment. Jacob Tjørnholm got the award because his technical skills has made Gomore into one of the leading user-to-user car rental and car sharing services.

Founder of the Year: Christian Wylonis, Fitbay
To earn the Founder of the Year, you need a company that exhibits sound financial structure and good customer growth. Christian Wylonis received the award because he is an inspirational leader who manages his company in a very resolute and admirable manner.

Best Professional Investor: Accelerace Invest
This prize goes to a person or company that has completed the strongest investments and has been best at spotting potential. Accelerace Invest received the award because they have a unique understanding of the market.

Best Office Space: Startup City
To be awarded Best Office Space you have to create an environment that encourages innovation and healthy growth. Startup City got the prize because they are very important for the entrepreneurial environment in Aarhus, and creates space for creativity.

Best Accelerator Program: Next Step Challenge
The award is given to the accelerator that have created the best environment for growth and innovation during the year – especially financially. It went to the Next Step Challenge, because they offer a push in the right direction for a variety of start-up companies.

Startup of the Year: Falcon Social
The prize is given to the startup company that has shown the best performance over the past year. This may be in the form of growth, impact, sales, product or service. Falcon Social has grown significantly during 2014 and has recently received an investment of more than 100 million Danish Kroner.

Best Newcomer: Unipegma
In order to be relevant in this category, the company must be less than a year old, but still be able to offer an impressive track record. Unipegma is a company that works to create a “spotify for study books”.

Best Bootstrapped: Washa
In this category the same criteria as for “Startup of the Year” applies, however, the company must be develop without any external financing. Washa is a service that cleans and delivers clothing for people who do not want to spend time on this themselves.

Best Social Entrepreneurial Tech Startup: Be My Eyes
The company must have a product or service that has experienced a major influence or growth in the social entrepreneurship field during 2014. Be My Eyes is an app that via smartphone cameras allow people to help the blind to see.
